we’re very much looking forward to playing with all of these great bands, and we hope all of you Sydney folk can make it along. see you soon.
Sydney’s favourite earnest, mathy indie-punk band, INTENTIONS, are launching their new 7” record ‘Guilt Party’ by touring south-eastern Australia this March and April in about as comprehensive a fashion as an obscure DIY band can manage, playing ten shows in three weeks between Adelaide and Brisbane.
We’re lucky enough to have them visit us in Canberra. You should come. They have guitar riffs that’ll melt your face.
They’re also bringing along Carbs for the ride, whom I have only heard awesome things about.
Check them out with yours ears here: http://soundcloud.com/carbs-2
Intentions have been nice enough to let Mornings support them for this lovely show.
It’s definitely incentive enough to stay in Canberra for the long weekend, or to wake up from your chocolate easter egg induced coma.
I think it’s free, but I apologise in advance if I’m wrong.
Here’s a live recording of Buffalo from our show at the old food co op, courtesy of Reuben Ingall. Enjoy.
We have the pleasure of supporting Let Me Down Jungleman on their tour around Australia to promote their brand spanking new EP. These guys are a lot of fun live. They play super energetic garage punk but still manage to craft great pop songs. Also, they are super nice dudes.
Come along to the Phoenix on Sunday the 25th to catch them along with ourselves, and post hardcore favourites, Life and Limb.
“Mornings delivers raw musical energy, interspersed with insect-like inflections and industrial might. Breakdowns drop with brutal intensity but there are poignant, destructible moments too (Buffalo). The epic Mornings machine lifts you above the city like it’s King Kong, loses control and leaves you in a happy heap on the floor.”
Check out the full review of our EP in the latest issue of bma magazine
Join us for a night of Canberra music at the Phoenix.
We’ll be supported by:
Cracked Actor – a great band who have just released their record ‘Solar Drifwood’, which sounds incredible. Have a listen and get a taste before the show here: http://crackedactor.bandcamp.com/
Ghostrider – which is a new project from Mark Falkland from Old Ace. I can only imagine good musical things coming from this, and all reports from their last show confirm my suspicions.
Sun Valley – The infamous Jed Stone from Voss is playing drums in this new band. Direct all the way from Braidwood! Get there early for them, it’ll be really awesome.
once again, the lovely photography is by our amazing friend Sophie. You can see her other great work at sophiegabriellephotography
hope to see you on the 23rd.
We will have the pleasure of playing with Grun and Hinterlandt on Saturday the 11th of Feb, at the Phoenix Pub. We’ll be on at 8pm.
Also, the lovely photograph is by our dear friend Sophie – sophiegabriellephotography
Grun: A German word (English translation: green)
A great, atmospheric post rock band from Sydney. These guys have a very cool and nicely balanced sound going on. Check it
Hinterlandt is a one man band who has taken his experimental sounds all over the world. Check the videos to get a good taste of his style. Very sporadic and interesting song structures. Sure to be a good live act.
We have been given the pleasure of supporting La Dispute on their Australian tour.
La Dispute’s music has been cited as containing elements of post-hardcore primarily but having elements of screamo, progressive rock, post-rock and melodic hardcore. After having seen them on their last trip to Canberra, I can safely say that their live shows are pretty impressive. Check out http://www.ladisputemusic.com/ for music and other exciting things.
La Dispute will hit Canberra on the 13th of Feb 2012 at the Basement in Belconnen. We will hopefully see you there.
We’d like to say thank you to everyone that came along to the launch.
Thank you to the audience, the bands and everyone that helped make the EP (even if it wasn’t there on time)
It was a great night and we are extremely grateful.
On another note, we will be playing at Bar 32 on the 13th of December w/ In Sepia (BRIS) and Zita Grimm (SYD).
They are currently on a farewell tour, and they have very fortunately decided to make a stop in Canberra. Come along to say goodbye and also to BUY AN EP. We should hopefully have them from the states ready to put in your hot little hands. Also, we will be posting them out to those lovely people who pre-ordered .
See you on the 13th @ Bar 32
